What AI UGC is and who buys it

You make money with AI UGC by selling brands short, creator-style product videos made with AI presenters and product shots, usually as ad creatives. Brands buy UGC because it looks native on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, and they need many variations to test.

UGC means user-generated content: the handheld review, the unboxing, the "I tried this so you don't have to" video. AI UGC uses a fictional presenter instead of a hired creator. The buyer is usually a direct-to-consumer brand, an app, or an agency running paid social. They care about one thing: whether the video helps the ad perform.

The formats brands ask for

Learn these formats well. They cover most UGC briefs.

  • Talking head: presenter speaks to camera about a problem and the product.
  • Review: pros, one honest con, a verdict.
  • Unboxing: what arrives, first impressions, size and texture.
  • Problem/fix: the frustration, then the product solving it.
  • GRWM (get ready with me): the product as part of a routine.
  • Day in my life: the product appears naturally across a day.

ClickPop's UGC studio has each of these as a starting point. Ad Studio then helps you make hook variants of one video, which is what performance marketers want: the same body with five different openings.

Build a sample reel first

Nobody hires a UGC creator without seeing work. Make three to five sample videos for imaginary or generic products in one category, such as skincare tools, kitchen gadgets or phone accessories.

  • Design two or three fictional adult presenters in Characters with different looks and styles. Lock their reference photos.
  • Pick generic products you can photograph yourself, or render a plain unbranded product. Do not use other companies' logos.
  • Make one video in each format, 20 to 40 seconds, vertical.
  • Add a short version of each with three different hooks to show you understand testing.
  • Put them on one page with a line about turnaround and what is included.

One brief with three hooks

Imagine a brand selling a reusable water bottle with a built-in filter. Here is a 30-second problem/fix script with three hooks to test.

  • Hook A: "I stopped buying bottled water, and this is why."
  • Hook B: "Your tap water tastes like that because of this."
  • Hook C: "The one thing in my bag I'd actually replace if I lost it."
  • Body: presenter fills the bottle at a kitchen tap, shows the filter, drinks. "It filters as you drink, so I just fill it anywhere. It fits my car cup holder and it doesn't leak in my bag." Try it
  • Close: "Link's below if you want one." On-screen text with the brand's offer.

A sample prompt for the body shot: "The presenter from the reference photos fills a matte green water bottle at a kitchen tap, holds it up to camera, natural window light, handheld phone framing, casual home kitchen." Use the brand's real product photo as the reference so the bottle looks exactly right. Avoid health claims such as "removes toxins" unless the brand provides approved, substantiated wording.

Package and pitch your service

Sell outcomes in clear packages. A package might look like this:

  • Starter test: one video, three hooks, vertical, one round of revisions.
  • Testing pack: three videos in different formats, three hooks each, vertical and square.
  • Monthly retainer: a set number of new videos and hooks each month, based on the brand's ad results.

Pitch message: "Hi, I make AI UGC ads for [category] brands. I can deliver one video with three hooks for your [product] in [days], so you can test openings without booking creators. Here are three samples. Would a test video be useful for your next campaign?"

For pricing, see the guide on pricing AI video services. Know your production cost: a 10-second 720p clip on ClickPop's Auto model costs about 72 credits, and the price always shows before you generate.

Where to find buyers

Your best buyers already run video ads and need more creative than they can make. Look for them in a few places.

  • Brands running many ads in your category. Watch your own feed and any public ad library a platform offers to see who advertises often and how quickly their creatives change.
  • Small performance marketing agencies that manage ad accounts for several brands. One agency can send repeat work.
  • Freelance marketplaces, where brands post UGC briefs. See the guide on selling on Fiverr and Upwork.
  • Founders of new direct-to-consumer brands, who often post about their launch on social media.

Lead with a sample made for their category, not a generic reel. A specific sample shows you understand their product.

Rules you must follow

  • Fictional presenters only. Never use a real person's likeness without permission.
  • Be open with the brand that presenters are AI. Some platforms and brands have their own rules on synthetic presenters.
  • No fake testimonials. A video must not present an AI presenter as a real customer who used the product. Use a brand-approved script and label the content as advertising.
  • Platforms ask for realistic AI content to be labeled, as of October 2026. Agree with the brand who handles labels when ads run.
  • Agree usage rights in writing: where the brand can run the video and for how long.

Videos you make in ClickPop can be used commercially, including ads and client work.

Do brands buy AI UGC videos?

Some brands and agencies do, mainly to test many ad variations quickly. They judge on whether the video fits their brand and helps the ad perform.

Is AI UGC legal?

Making it is allowed, but you must avoid real people's likeness, fake testimonials, unapproved product claims and third-party logos, and follow platform AI labeling and ad disclosure rules.

What do I need to start selling AI UGC?

A sample reel of three to five videos in one category, clear packages, and a reliable way to keep presenters consistent, such as locked character references.
